Not looking too far, it became clear that the most suitable for this endeavor were the Barbie dolls.

Already being featured is all sorts of exotic circumstances, the dolls were a perfect match for the new concept.

So, in 2002, Mattel released the official Barbie Doll Birthstone Collection, with about 36 models, three for each month. All dolls featured beautiful dresses in the colors of the each month’s official birthstone and appropriate accessories.

They actually spent a lot of time designing them and didn’t cut any corners. The dressed had glitter on them and the necklace that each had was actually a real Swarovski crystal.

Unfortunately, the collection was discontinued and nowadays, if you want to get your hands on one of these dolls, you need to contact the collectors. But not many are willing to trade them.

Fortunately, you can find some deals on Amazon.com. Surprisingly, a lot of dolls are found for less than $40! Great bargain.

Here are photos for some of the birthstone Barbie dolls:

<a And of course, one of the key ingredients to making sure it all goes fabulous is the engagement ring.

The ring is the one thing that you will both look at and think of the second it all happened, when you decided to form a family.

Although I could write books about the subject, I want to talk particularly about the black diamond engagement rings.

April’s birthstone, diamond has always been a classic, the first choice for anybody looking for the perfect engagement ring. It has something to do with its sparkle, its luster and it pure beauty. Or maybe because it is a symbol for something that cannot be broken, something that will live on no matter what, something timeless.

The black diamond, on the other hand, has invariably kept an air of mystery around it. Much harder to find and lacking those rare traits of its colorless brother, it is somewhat hard to explain the fascination that people hold for it. Yet, people do choose it to mark one of the most sacred unions of their lives.

However, one such ring is not necessarily for everyone. It is only appropriate if your loved one is somewhat against old-fashioned customs. I could say, against the mainstream culture, with a little bit of rebel attitude.

Carmen Electra, for instance, got one from Dave Navarro. Carole Lombard also received one from Cary Grant.

What makes black diamond engagement rings special?

For one, black diamonds are much scarcer than the regular ones, making them so much more valuable.

In fact, they are hardly ever found in the wild. Most of the ones you will find in a jewelry store are specially treated, either with heat of radiation to create a color so dark that it appears black.

The natural ones, the few that there are, owe their color to small inclusions of graphite. For that reason, their color is not evenly distributed and they may look a little shady.

Although in the same family, you cannot rely on the four Cs of diamonds when looking for a black diamond engagement ring. They are opaque, so the whole cut, color, clarity and carat poem goes out the window.

What is important to know is that the more intense and uniform the black, the more valuable the stone.

As for the carat, the best known black diamond is the 67 carat Black Orlov which some believe is actually a part of the 195 carat Eye of Brahma that was stolen from a sacred Indian temple.

In numerous rings, they pair the black diamond with smaller colorless diamonds in order to create a powerful contrast. This way, you get the best of two worlds and your sweetheart will appreciate it. She will certainly say yes!

P.S. I’ve found that Gemvara has a fantastic selection of black diamond engagement rings, ranging from some of the simplest of designs to the most elaborate pieces I’ve ever seen. Go check their website to get a full picture of their catalog.

P.P.S. Also, if you liked this article, I would be most grateful if you’d share it with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus. How is one to choose the beast meaning?

True, it really is nice to hear what some culture thought of a certain stone, why some other culture use another stone for who knows what ritual. It’s something that brings out the child in you. You want to know more about it, and if there is something that resonates with you, you have the best reason to believe it.

On the other hand, every person who offers somebody a birthstone jewel either tells the story he was told by somebody else, either improvises something so as to make the receiver feel the importance that he’s given to the stone.

What your birthstone symbolizes above all is the true caring from the person who dedicated his time to finding you a stone that best represents you. I doesn’t matter what some association says that a stone represents this month. You make all the meanings.

A gift is, after all, a way of saying to somebody how important that person is to you. You could look into the meanings that others have tried to associate with it, but you are the one who truly appreciates a stone’s significance.

Related Posts:

7 Interesting Things You Need to Know About Birth Stones

Choosing Gifts with Traditional, Astrological and Celtic Birthstones

How the Concept of Birthstones Originated?

June Birthstone – Pearl

March Birthstone – Aquamarine

Gemstones

Articles

The traditional classification in the West, which goes back to the Ancient Greeks, begins with a distinction between precious and semi-precious stones; similar distinctions are made in other cultures. The precious stones are diamond, ruby, emerald and sapphire, with all other gemstones being semi-precious.

This distinction is unscientific and reflects the rarity of the respective stones in ancient times, as well as their quality – all are translucent with fine color in their purest forms, except for the colorless diamond, and very hard, with hardnesses of 8-10 on the Mohs scale. Other stones are classified by their color, translucency and hardness.

Precious Gemstones

The traditional distinction does not necessarily reflect modern values, for example, while garnets are relatively inexpensive, a green garnet called Tsavorite, can be far more valuable than an mid-quality emerald.

In modern times gemstones are identified by gemologists, who describe gems and their characteristics using technical terminology specific to the field of gemology. The first characteristic a gemologist uses to identify a gemstone is its chemical composition. For example, diamonds are made of carbon (C) and rubies of aluminium oxide (Al2O3).

Next, many gems are crystals which are classified by their crystal system such as cubic or trigonal or monoclinic. Another term used is habit, the form the gem is usually found in. For example diamonds, which have a cubic crystal system, are often found as octahedrons.

Gemstones are classified into different groups, species, and varieties. For example, ruby is the red variety of the species corundum, while any other color of corundum is considered sapphire. Emerald (green), aquamarine (blue), bixbite (red), goshenite (colorless), heliodor (yellow), and morganite (pink) are all varieties of the mineral species beryl.

Gems are characterized in terms of refractive index, dispersion, specific gravity, hardness, cleavage, fracture, and luster. They may exhibit pleochroism or double refraction. They may have luminescence and a distinctive absorption spectrum.

Material or flaws within a stone may be present as inclusions.

Related Posts:

January Birthstone – Garnet

Watch For The Four C’s When Buying Diamonds

May Birthstone – Emerald

July Birthstone – Ruby

The History And Lore Of Birthstone Rings

The History And Lore Of Birthstone Rings

Articles

By Casey Buell Since ancient times, rings have been recognized as a symbol of relationship, or a bond between the giver and the wearer of the ring. In some cultures, this was interpreted as a physical bond of ownership and control. For example in the ancient Greek myth of Prometheus, the god Zeus uses a ring of unbreakable adamantine to forever bind Prometheus to a rock as punishment for giving the secret of fire to mankind.

More often than not, however, ancient cultures recognized the ring as a symbol of emotional attachment. The perfect circle of a gold ring represents continuity, as in the eternal return of the seasons. The shape of a circle has always been a metaphor for faithfulness, unity, eternity or perfection, and there are many examples of this in prehistoric rock art. Birth stone rings evolved from this tradition

Birthstone Ring

Certain personality traits have always been associated with each gemstone and the individuals whose birth month is represented by that gem. Legendary powers have been attributed to many birthstones and birthstone rings were worn to bring good fortune to their owner.

Birthstone rings have a rich history in many cultures. Most scholars agree that the history and legend of birthstones originated in the Old Testament story of a garment worn by the high priest Aaron. Each stone represented one of the twelve tribes, one of the signs of the zodiac and also one of the months of the year.

Over time, many of the birthstones have remained the same, with the same birthstone colors; some have changed slightly because their exact origins were unknown from the original text, and some have been interpreted to the proper minerals of those probably referred to in the in the original text. Here is a good page to view birthstone rings.

Birthstone history and legends:

Garnet (birthstone of January):

Garnet comes from the Greek word “granatum” meaning “pomegranate seed”. It is symbolic for many different religions. Ancient Hebrew legend states that garnet was one of the twelve gems in the breastplate of Aaron. Christians have seen it to symbolize the sacrifices of Christ. And the Koran states that garnet illuminates the Fourth Heaven of Islam. Primitive cultures believed garnet could smooth discord and prevent bloodshed.

Amethyst (birthstone of February):

Ancients believed amethyst would protect them from drunkenness. In fact its name is taken from the Greek “A-methystos”, meaning, “not drunken”. Legend has it that Bacchus, the Greek god of wine, grew angry with mortals, and vowed that the next mortal to cross his path would be eaten by tigers. Just then a young maiden named Amethyst was on her way to worship the Goddess Diana. Diana, Knowing of Bacchus’ plan turned Amethyst into a statue of colorless quartz to save her from the tiger’s teeth. Bacchus, seeing this repented and cried tears of wine over the young Amethyst, staining her purple.

Aquamarine (birthstone of March):

Aquamarine comes from the Latin for “sea water”. It is said to offer the wearer foresight, courage, and happiness. Legend is that sailors wore it to sea to keep them safe and ward off seasickness. It was also believed to be the treasure of mermaids. Aquamarine is said to bring love, increase intelligence, and restore youth.

Diamond (birthstone of April):

The word diamond comes from the Greek “adamas”, meaning, “unconquerable”. The Greeks believed diamonds to be star splinters fallen to earth. The tradition of diamonds as a symbol of love comes from the Roman belief that Cupids arrows were tipped with them. But the tradition of the diamond engagement ring didn’t start until much later, when, in 1477, the Archduke Maximillian of Austria gave one to Mary of Burgundy.

Emerald (birthstone of May):

The Roman scholar Plinly loved emeralds because, in his words, “Nothing green is greener.” The Moguls of India inscribed them with sacred texts and wore them as talismans. One such talisman, a 78 carat emerald, reads, “He who possesses this charm shall enjoy the special protection of God”, in Persian. Cleopatra loved her emeralds more than any other gem, though it is now believed that her “emeralds” were actually peridot.

Alexandrite (birthstone of June):

Alexandrite was discovered in 1830 in Russia. As red and green, the colors of alexandrite, were also the colors of Imperial Russia, the stone was named after the Czarevich Alexander II on the occasion of his coming of age. Alexandrite is still believed to be a good omen in Russia.

Ruby (birthstone of July):

The ruby is said to bring wisdom, happiness, and health, and symbolizes success, devotion, and integrity. It was thought to bring good luck to both lovers and gamblers. The ruby was said to help mend bad relationships as well as encourage stable ones.

Peridot (birthstone of August):

Peridot is thought to ensure good luck, peace, and success. It is said that what Cleopatra thought were her “emeralds” were actually peridot. Legend has it that peridot was first mined on the Egyptian island of Zeberget, but only at night because it was believed that peridot could not be seen by day. Large peridots still decorate the shrine of the three magi at the Cologne Cathedral.

Sapphire (birthstone of September):

Ancient Persians believed that the earth rested on a giant sapphire and that the sapphire’s reflection colored the sky. While some ancient Hebrew writers believed that the Ten Commandments were written on sapphire. More recently, the engagement ring Prince Charles gave to Princess Diana was a sapphire ring.

Pink Tourmaline (birthstone of October):

The word Tourmaline comes from the Singhalese “tourmalli” which means “mixed colored stones”. Tourmaline is thought to represent autumn because the red and green colors of some tourmaline are reminiscent of the turning of the leaves. This is why it has become the birthstone of October.

Imperial Topaz (birthstone of November):

Topaz comes from the Sanskrit “tapas”, meaning “fire”. The Greeks believed it could increase strength and make the wearer invisible. The Romans believed it could improve eyesight. And the Egyptians believed a topaz amulet could protect the wearer from injury.

Blue Zircon (birthstone of December):

Zircon, known to the ancients as hyacinth, provided the wearer with wisdom, honor, and riches. For women it was believed to aid in childbirth, and for men it was believed to keep evil spirits and bad dreams away. When zircon lost its luster it was thought to be warning of danger.

The physical properties of birthstones:

Science and spirituality often seem to cross paths, and the physics of birthstones are an exceptional example. Birthstones are among the most dense crystalline substances on the planet, formed from millions of years of pressure under the earth’s crust. The enchanting birthstone colors are the result of both the source element and the precise alignment of the crystals within the gem.

In a physical sense, birthstones concentrate energy and redirect it along a certain prismatic path. The ancients believed that wearing birthstone rings transferred the power of the gem from each finger to a different area of the body. The third finger of the left hand, for example, transferred energy to the heart, which is why it is traditionally used for an engagement ring.

The modern laser was invented with the use of a ruby, which concentrates ordinary light into a higher energy level that can be directed on a coherent path, a pinpoint that travels extreme distances without dispersing.

Diamonds are the most highly conductive substance known, and are currently at the leading edge of future computer technology.

If there is any physical reality that underlies the wearing of birthstone rings, it is perhaps summarized by the great psychologist Carl Jung, who said, “The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances; if there is any reaction, both are transformed.”

Casey Buell is an expert in the field of gemstones and diamonds, and a contributor to the award winning mother’s ring website located at http://www.momsring.com.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Casey_Buell

Related Posts:

December Birthstone Rings

7 Interesting Things You Need to Know About Birth Stones

January Birthstone – Garnet

February Birthstone – Amethyst

August Birthstone – Peridot

7 Interesting Things You Need to Know About Birth Stones

Articles

If you’re looking for a gift that will represent the recipient, a birth stone jewelry is one of the most ideal items that you can give. As the term implies, a birth stone represents a month in the calendar and it is often used for various jewelry designs for the young and old.

One of the factors that attract us to birth stones is their varying colors. Each stone is represented by a different color and most of us associate a specific color or a favorite according our corresponding birth stone.

Interesting Birthstones

There are so many things that make these interesting apart for the more obvious reasons. Here are 7 interesting thing you might want to know about birth stones:

1. The history of this jewelry dates back to the time of Aaron as told in the Bible, in the book of Exodus [chapter 28, verses 17 to 20]

Josephus, a 1st century Jewish historian, stated that there is a correlation between the twelve stones on Aaron’s breastplate, the twelve signs of the zodiac and the twelve months of the year.

Exodus 28:17-20 states

“Then they mounted four rows of precious stones on it. In the first row there was a ruby, a topaz and a beryl; in the second row a turquoise, a sapphire and an emerald; in the third row a jacinth, an agate and an amethyst; in the fourth row a chrysolite, an onyx and a jasper. They were mounted in gold filigree settings. There were twelve stones, one for each of the names of the sons of Israel, each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.”

2. The Bible’s book of Revelation [chapter 21, verses 19 to 20] also states the precise list of birth stones where the foundations of the New Jerusalem are listed

“And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.”

3. The tradition of wearing birth stones became popular in Poland during the 15th century. The norm recommended that each month a person should wear a corresponding birth stones since it is during its month that the gemstone is more potent than usual. In effect, each person was suggested to own all twelve stones were they can rotate them each month.

4. There are the traditional which are based on cultures and societies. Varying cultures have their own set of birth stones which resulted to inconsistent jewellers’ lists.

5. Mystical birth stones originated from Tibet which date back over centuries ago.

6. Ayurvedic birth stones originate from ancient Indian philosophy and medicine which date to 1500 BC.

7. Modern birth stones were standardized in 1912. The Jewellers of America adopted an official list in the effort to standardize the birth stones list. This is the most widely-used in USA, Thailand, Australia and other regions.

The fascination with birth stones will probably never cease. They are multi-colored gemstones that attract all ages with their beauty as well as their multi-faceted history.

Harrison Fray is a an expert at various types of wedding and relationship issues. If you combine the different birthstone gems, flowers and colors from the different lists the combinations can be bewildering. However, by choosing from the various birthstone charts we can create many unique gift ideas.

The first birthstone chart that most people consider is the traditional one. This has a different stone or stones for each month. For example the August birthstone is peridot and the September one is sapphire. The stones can vary greatly in value and this can make it difficult to find appropriate gifts. Especially for those born in April where the stone is diamond.

Celtic Birthstone Ring

For those that are astrologically minded there is a list of birthstones by starsign. Using the zodiac birthstone may prove less expensive as the gems for April are bloodstone and sapphire rather than the traditional diamond.

There is even a Celtic birthstone chart that has a Celtic name for each division of the calendar and a gem for each. There is also a tree associated with each division. It may be an idea to give that tree as a gift, especially to a younger person so that they can watch it grow.

You can choose many types of jewelry containing the appropriate stones. You could give a mother a bracelet with the stones of her children. It is obviously best to stick with one list and find a gift of the appropriate value. It may be possible to use alternative gems or use gems of the same color if the actual birthstone proves too expensive.

There are flowers and colors associated with the traditional birthstone chart and these can be used to personalize the gift. In some cases they can be used to enhance the gift if a less expensive gem has been used.

As you can see there are many combinations of jewelry, birthstones, flowers and colors that you can use to create unique gifts. You will need to be careful that you choose appropriate gems or flowers for the correct birth date. You may want to give a note with the gift to indicate the care and thought that you have put into the choice.

For a list of traditional birthstones visit

http://www.unique-gift-inspirations.com/birthstone-month.html.

For a list of flowers and colors associated with birthstones visit http://www.unique-gift-inspirations.com/birthstone-and-flower-of-each-month.html.

Gary Roll is co-founder of Unique Gift Inspirations, a website that provides help in finding unusual and unique gift ideas for anniversaries, birthdays and other occasions. Gemstones have traditionally been used in different cultures as birthstones (one assigned for each month), for warding off evil influence of planets and for their healing properties.

In the first century, Josephus, a Jewish general and historian, asserted that the twelve stones in the Aaron’s (elder brother of Moses and the first high priest of the Israelites) breastplate represented twelve months of the years and the twelve Zodiac signs.

Birthstones

Birthstone is a precious gemstone that represents each month of the Gregorian calendar and there are poems that mention the benefits of twelve different gemstones: one for each month. For example, garnet birthstone for those born in January, amethyst birthstone for February born and so on and so forth. One poem that is repeated thrice in the twelve poems goes like this;

By her who in March was born

No gem save Bloodstone shall be worn

They will ensure her constancy

True friendship and fidelity.

Birthstones, as a custom gained popularity in the fifteenth century in Poland where tradition suggested that everyone wear the birthstone for each month. That meant owning a set of twelve birthstones, one for each month since the powers of the gemstone increased during the month it was associated with.

Besides these traditional birthstones, there are also:

Modern birthstones: a list of standard birthstones that was officially adopted by the American association of jewelers in 1912.

Mystical birthstones: Gems of Tibetan origin mentioned in lists dating back centuries.

Ayurvedic birthstones: Gemstones listed as part of ancient Indian medicine and Vedic astrology.

Throughout its history, mankind has tried to associate magical properties with non-living objects and used them lucky charms and talismans. These have been viewed as ephemeral means of controlling the world and changing destiny.

The study of Vedic astrological gemstones, however, is considered to be a science, at least in the country of its origin. The theory goes like this. Just as the body and mind derive energy from the food that grows on the outer layer of the earth’s crust, the minerals in the layer beneath it nourish the vegetables and grains grown on the upper layer. Similarly, the molten rock in the earth’s crust (magma) is concentrated with harmonizing ions. The intense pressure and heat is instrumental in passing on this energy to the crystals that form when the magma cools down in cracks in the earth’s crust. Gemstones are these crystals that are later dug out from mines around the world.

Vedic astrological birthstones are not whimsical arrangement of gemstones and months or the Zodiac signs to serve as lucky objects. It is a practice of prescribing birthstones after considering the planetary conditions under which a person is born and those prevailing at the time of prescription. It is also based on the principle that whatever is outside is within you and whatever is within is also outside your body. This means that the water, air, fire, earth and cosmic energy that are outside are also within you. Even the strongest cynic will agree that:

The body comprises of 75% of water.

The fire is the body temperature that must be maintained.

Air is needed every moment of life.

And earth is needed to survive as it provides foods and nutrients.

Vedic astrological gemstones are prescribed according to the physics of nature and the chemistry of earth. Gemstones work on the mind and body just as Vitamin D is provided by the sun’s rays or the way music soothes tense nerves. Just as a knife, a dangerous weapon, turns into a life saving tool in the hands of a surgeon, gemstones prescribed according to the Vedic principles have a soothing affect on your mind and body.

So next time you want to wear a birthstone, analyse which faith you believe in more and select your birthstone accordingly. Diamonds begin to crystallize in the magma 109 to 149 miles beneath the earth’s surface, and peridots are formed 20 to 55 miles below. As the earth’s crust continually moves, these deposits begin to work their way toward the surface.

Generally, gemstones are classified through four processes, although some gemstones undergo more than one process in their formation.

Molten rock, fluids, and gasses

Environmental changes

Surface water

Formation in the earth’s mantle

GEMSTONES CREATED BY MAGMA

Natural Gemstones

Magma Crystallization

Minerals are formed as the molten rock, or magma, cools on its journey to the earth’s crust. Different elements in the magma create different minerals, and these minerals can crystallize as they head toward the earth’s crust, forming rubies, sapphires, moonstone, garnets, and zircons embedded within fine-grained rocks.

Gas Crystallization

Some gemstones form within gas bubbles which occur when magma decreases in pressure quickly, as in a volcanic eruption. A high concentration of various elements in the bubbles creates garnets, topaz and spinels.

Hydrothermal Action

Sometimes water enters the mantle through cracks in the crust and combines with special elements like carbon dioxide, fluorine, beryllium, and other elements that are easily vaporized. This hydrothermal liquid may dissolve minerals or combine with surface water in cracks to form mineral veins. With time, temperature, pressure, and available space, crystals such as amethysts, topaz, and emeralds are formed.

Pegmatite

A pegmatite is a cavity formed by volatiles, or quickly vaporized elements. Within the pegmatite elements crystallize forming topaz, tourmalines, kunzites, aquamarines and morganites.

GEMSTONES CREATED BY ENVIRONMENT CHANGES

When magma forces itself through existing rock in the earth’s crust, as in a volcano, the heat can re-melt the already formed rock and create new crystals that are more heat-resistant than before. Lapis lazuli, garnets, diopsides, and spinels are the result.

When continental plates shift on the earth, the resulting heat and pressure form mountains. The existing mineral crystals become unstable and change into new crystals, creating tanzanites and varieties of garnets.

SURFACE WATER

Rain and water from streams, lakes, and oceans can make new gems as it passes over and combines with different chemicals. As water levels change, some of these new stones are deposited on the surface ground, or upper levels of crust. Turquoise, opals, malachite, amethyst, azurites, and agates are often left exposed.

FORMED IN THE MANTLE

The earth’s mantle is 83% of the earth’s volume and 1,864 miles thick. Where the mantle and crust meet, there is constant motion, pressure, and extreme temperatures. It is this combination of conditions that create the hardest compound known to man, diamonds.

Each http://www.Personalized-Jewelry.com item is made to your exact specifications and made even more special with the personalization you choose. You’ve seen it worn by royalties and celebrities, but it’s also available to every me and you.

Its toughness and beauty have been known and praised since ancient times. The actual word “diamond” comes from the old Greek “adamas”, which means “unconquerable”.

The decision to purchase a diamond is a rather important one. To the Romans, diamonds were falling stars that tipped the arrow of Eros, the God of love. This meant that those who wore them would be filled with love and spread feelings of happiness around them.

Whether or not the belief was based on real facts, diamonds seem to have some form of energy around them, and you should pay special attention when choosing one.

Diamonds

The Four C’s

Assessing the Four C’s is a method that helps us see the true value of a stone we’re about to purchase. Used mainly by professional jewelers, it’s still very simple to be applied even by an untrained eye.

So What Are The Four C’s?

They are Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat.

The Cut…

… is considered by many jewelers as the most important of a diamond’s properties.

Depending on how well it is made, it determines how well it reflects light. Professionals strive to make the cut as precise as geometrically possible so that it will reflect more light. If the cut is too shallow, light escapes out the sides and the diamond loses brilliance. If the cut is too deep, light is lost out the bottom and the diamond appears dark or dull.

Therefore, a bright shining diamond, with a symmetrical appearance is a definite sign that the cut is of high quality.

Color

Despite the common belief, not all diamonds are white or colorless. In fact, most diamonds you will find have slight tones of yellow, brown or blue.

There is an actual scale you can use to get a beautiful diamond at a reasonable price. It covers all leathers from D to Z.

D to F are colorless diamonds. These are the rarest and of course, the most expensive. Unless you have a huge pocket, look for stones in the range of…

G to I. These ones offer excellent value and they have a light blue color.

Stones graded above K can still be lovely if they have a great Cut and …

Clarity…

… refers to the number of imperfections in the stone. Absolutely perfect diamonds are extremely rare.

So the value of the crystal is deeply influenced by the number of “Inclusions” or “Blemishes”.

There is also a more complicated scale to rate the perfection of a Diamond, but I won’t bore you with it.

Just watch for diamonds rated “I”, which have imperfections that may be visible with the naked eye. The other grades aren’t important because when mounted in jewelry, the slight imperfections become invisible.

Carat

This is generally the only property people follow when purchasing diamonds.

The carat is the measurement unit for a diamond’s weight. One carat weighs 200 miligrams, or 1/5 of a gram. Each carat is divided into 100 points.

The bigger the crystal, the more carats is has and the bigger the price.

Don’t be tempted to say the bigger the better. Ultimately, you want a diamond that has a balance between the Four C’s.

With this kind of knowledge, you are now ready to start searching for the greatest gift you could ever think of. So wait no longer. I guarantee that you’ll be satisfied with the jewel you’ll choose.

Related Posts:

She’ll Say Yes!
